We really value you as gamers on Xbox, and want to make sure you have the options available to you to be as effective in your achievement hunting as you can be. So while our data tells us most users aren’t snapping achievements to their game for long periods of time, it looks like you all, our most hardcore Achievements fans are. Achievements snap, while it takes up a large portion of your screen, requires no further action after you’ve launched it. If you really want to stay 100% up to date on an achievement without having to leave your game at all, the Guide doesn’t work as well, as you have to take some action to open and close it. So, we initially felt pretty confident that Achievements in the Guide experience would be the right experience for the vast majority of users.īased on your feedback, we’ve reevaluated that decision and have realized that while the Achievements in the Guide solution does really solve most cases, without the Achievement Snap, we’re missing out on the scenario of truly uninterrupted achievement progress tracking. Because it’s a bit cumbersome to snap and unsnap apps, and because this data doesn’t include usage of Achievements in the Guide, it could be an even smaller percentage of users who would actually prefer keeping the app snapped next to their game while playing. Somewhere between 1-10% of users are actually keeping the app snapped next to their game for a significant amount of time during gameplay. This is still consistent with the usage model of opening up the app, browsing, and closing it. Over 90% of users are keeping the snap on screen for less than 5 minutes. People are opening the app, doing a bit of browsing, and closing it. Our data from the Achievements Snap app usage shows that of the people who use the Achievements Snap app – The snap on average is only on screen for about 2 minutes. Longer version – When we designed Achievements experience in the Guide, we did so with the core achievements experience in mind – you’re playing a game, you want to quickly check progress and get back to your game. When we make changes, we need your feedback on them before we send them out to the world.

This situation is exactly what the Preview forum is for.

We really appreciate the tons of feedback you’ve given us on removing the app. The short version of the news is – The Achievements Snap app is coming back.
